For the second weekend in a row, I ended up doing kind of a lot for this one. Fortunately, a lot of what I did this weekend was the sort of thing that doesn’t leave me exhausted, so hopefully it will “count” towards my quota of sitting-around time that I need on a regular basis.
I know a lot of people think I’m totally weird, but I really do need regular periods of time when I can just be at home, and not really have to do anything. Sometimes it’s because I need the alone time, and other times it’s because I need the “leisure” time – i.e. time when I have no responsibilities and can sit around on the couch in my pajamas without feeling like I should be somewhere else.
I can definitely have too much of a good thing, as far as that is concerned. I tend to feel sorrier for myself and just generally be mopier and unhappier when I spend too much time at home. But at the same time, I do need it, and I’m really not prepared to do my best throughout the workweek if I need it and don’t get it.
So this weekend, I did some quality sitting around time at home on Saturday morning. I meant to go over to Kinko’s (which is really FedEx these days, but whatever) and make a couple of printouts of my digital invitation file. I didn’t get myself together fast enough to do that, though, so I may spend some quality lunch break time this week to get it done.
Then I went to get my haircut, which I definitely needed. My bangs no longer hang into my eyes, and are thus much easier to style and just generally deal with. This particular style of bangs ends up being pretty forgiving of my putting off having them trimmed (since I can just sweep them off to the side a bit more), but it’s definitely better to not put it off.
I also made plans with a friend from work to visit some wineries that are just outside the city. We intended to start at one I’ve been to before that has a nice view and a nice patio, eat a picnic lunch, and move on to one or two more that were nearby. We managed the picnic lunch, but we never did go to any other wineries. We ended up splitting a bottle of wine (although my friend drank a lot more of it than I did, since I was driving), and just hung out for awhile. It was a lot of fun, although I still want to try out those other wineries sometime!
Sunday is always my day for chores, which this weekend included going to the grocery store and buying a new fan for the bedroom. The old one is (mostly) broken, so it was definitely time for a new one. It’s just not possible to sleep during the summer without something to move the air.
But since we were at Bed, Bath, & Beyond, I also bought some new sheets.
I found some nice looking ones that were 30% off, so with my coupon, that meant I got a sheet set and two extra pillowcases for about $45. They’re cotton sateen, and a lovely light blue/aqua color that should be great for summertime. I’m getting a little tired of my white sheets, and really wanted to have a couple of sets (so I can change the sheets without having to wash them first), so it was definitely a fortuitous sale.
And since I had to do some picking up related to setting the new fan up, I decided to finally clean out my closet. I also decided that winter is well and truly over, so I put away some very winter-y clothing that won’t be necessary for a few months. I probably ought to tackle my dresser drawers as well, but I think I’m going to save that for later – I don’t need that space for anything in particular right now, and I don’t want to overwhelm myself.
So all in all, it was a weekend that managed to be both relaxing and productive. Hopefully, I can keep it up for next weekend as well. The fiancé wants to watch Robin Hood, and I really, really need to do some clothes shopping. I’m kind of hoping we don’t end up with too much more going on than that.
We have cotton sateen sheets that I really like! Unfortunately I think my Clean & Clear cream bleaches off some of the color, so the pillowcases have spots… Methinks I need to stick with mostly-white patterns. :\
Or just stick with white pillowcases.
