To go along with my post yesterday about “nesting” (or whatever you want to call it), I just had to go pick up my car from the mechanic I’ve found. And let me tell you, nothing makes you feel like an adult faster than a) putting a few hundred dollars in your budget for car maintenance because you now have to pay for it yourself, and b) actually getting your car maintenance done on schedule.
So, $300 later, my car has no outstanding work that needs to be done, and will hopefully not need anything more than an oil change the next time I bring it in. That would be particularly good, since the last time I needed an oil change, I also paid $300 for maintenance. Yay, car ownership!
But I’m feeling pretty proud of myself for getting it done, and not putting it off. If I want my car to last forever and a day (and I do), it would be penny wise and pound foolish not to get this stuff taken care of.
So now I can look forward to my car insurance payment coming due on July 1! I get to spend $700 on my car in just two short months! And it’s not even broken!
At least they changed my backup light for me, although I could have done it myself for approximately $6 less. But whatever – it’s done, and I obviously hadn’t done it myself.
Now all I have to do before I leave for Vermont is get my tires filled and rotated, and hopefully that means there will be no insane tire blowouts on my way to the airport.
Yay cars. My A/C broke two weekends ago on the drive to Pittsburgh. Two days ago, MAGICALLY FIXED. o_O
